Research Assistant

Summary

The Research Assistant works alongside our Advisor Team to assist with custom projects requiring quantitative research, analysis, and thoughtful modeling. Candidate must be intellectually curious, creative, collaborative, and a pro-active thinker.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with custom projects requiring quantitative research, analysis, and thoughtful modeling
  • Assist and/or execute the design of models that frame investment options and drive investment decisions.
  • Develop expertise in the creation of custom portfolio reviews which compare MACRO’s investments with other investment solutions based on a variety metrics
  • Administer and improve systematized processes for updating of marketing pieces
  • Research, write, and maintain investment talking points for advisors
  • Generate necessary data for advisors to respond to client requests
  • Contribute to qualitative responses to advisor requests
  • Maintain database of research documents and the procedures for creating same
  • Aggregate and distribute data related to portfolio returns, standard deviations and other investment risk and return measurements
  • Maintenance of research software
  • Provide support as required to MACRO’s Equity Research team as needed
  • Generate necessary data for internal and external due diligence requirements
  • Maintain and develop an understanding of investments, the investment industry and what informs investment decisions through research, interaction with team members and practice.
  • Special projects as assigned or requested

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/characteristics:

  • Proven acumen (academic honors, high GPA, etc.)
  • Intellectually curious, creative, collaborative, and pro-active thinker
  • Good communication skills and an ability to write copy on investment related topics
  • Capable of completing tasks independently and contributing to team discussions
  • Ability and desire to take ownership of processes
  • Strong quantitative analysis skills

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in finance or in a quantitative field, such mathematics, computer science, economics, or physics (or relevant work experience)
  • Interest in finance is preferred
  • Research experience preferred
  • 1-3 years’ experience in financial services a plus
  • Facility with Microsoft Office suite (advanced Excel skills required)
